sTo is the current public artist in residence at the NY Department of Sanitation. He is an interdisciplinary artist whose recent work has included printmaking with polluted waterways, making an interactive virtual walk at Fresh Kills landfill, transforming trash culled from coastal cleanups into art materials, and organizing events at Superfund sites.

During his sanitation residency, he started the Office of In Visibility, an interdisciplinary art project that bears witness to the labor of DSNY and its extensive role in New Yorkers’ lives. He has been using this as a platform to research and re-contextualize archival material from film and video to printmaking and photography. He aims to expand Office of In Visibility into a city-wide art project that can collaborate with other agencies that fuel NYC’s everyday life.
