More than half a million U.S. veterans were born outside the United States, and nearly two million are U.S.-born children of immigrants. Cesar Vargas was born in Mexico, grew up undocumented in the U.S., and went on to serve in the armed forces. Now the first undocumented lawyer in the country focuses on this nexus — working to ensure fair and accessible immigration services for active service members and veterans vulnerable to deportation.
